Signing in — no password
kinXus uses Face ID / Touch ID instead of a password (a "passkey"). Quicker, safer, nothing to forget.
- New here? Tap Sign Up, enter your email, set up Face ID / Touch ID — you're in.
- Coming back? Tap Sign In — Face ID / Touch ID logs you in.
- Invited by a friend? Open the invite — your email is pre-filled and you land already added to whatever they shared.
- Lost Face ID (new phone)? Tap "Can't sign in?" → enter your email → we send a one-time link → open it → you're back in with a fresh Face ID. You're never locked out.
Home — Albums, Moments, Photos
Three tabs across the top are three ways to see the same library.
- Albums — your big collections (a trip, an event, an everyday album).
- Moments — the automatic place-and-time groups inside your albums.
- Photos — every photo and video together, newest first.
Pull down to refresh. On Albums you can switch to a map; on Photos, Comments and Likes show what your circle reacted to. Search (top-right) finds albums, moments, groups and people. You see content from everyone whose Albums and Moments you're part of — not just your own.
The cover cards — tap & hold
Every Album, Moment, and Group is a "cover card" — a shortcut hub.
- Tap → open it.
- Double-tap, or tap the top-left corner → open its chat.
- Tap the top-right corner (Albums & Moments) → camera, ready to post there.
- Press and hold → a quick menu: Post · Chat · Slideshow · Info · Delete (Delete only if you own it).
Camera — photos & videos
- Tap the camera button (center of the bottom bar).
- Photo / Video / Portrait modes; pinch to zoom; tap to focus; flip front/back; flash; Live Photo.
- The Single → Multi → Auto button sets how shots are handled — review each (Single), collect a tray (Multi), or send straight to your active Album (Auto).
- Tap the small thumbnail (bottom-left) to pick from your phone's library instead.
- The X always closes the camera — you're never stuck.
Posting photos
A photo can go to an Album (auto-filed into the right Moment by where/when you took it), straight to a Moment, or to Unsorted.
- Album Mode — turn it on and every photo goes to that album (a pill shows which). Switch albums with the pill.
- Unsorted — no album chosen? The photo waits safely in Unsorted (in the side menu) so nothing is lost. File it later.
- The tray (Multi) — snap several, open the tray, Post them together.
- From your library — pick one or many (videos and iCloud photos too), choose where they go, Post.
- To a specific Album/Moment — a card's top-right corner, or Post from its hold-menu or a profile's ··· menu.
A post appears to others only after it fully uploads (you always see it on your own screen right away). Posts survive a closed app or a weak signal, and retry on their own — your photo is never silently lost.
The Uploads screen (side menu → Uploads)
A live view of what's uploading and what's finished. Two tabs: In-flight and History.
- In-flight — swipe a stuck/failed row to Delete (it stays gone after you reopen the app). The ··· menu has Cancel All Uploads (clears everything waiting or failed), Clear Failed Uploads (only the failed/stuck ones), and Retry All.
- History — swipe a finished batch to Move it to another Album or Delete/undo it. Tap a batch for a summary, and Fix Location for any photos that need a place.
Inside an Album
An Album's home page — its cover, members, and its Moments / Photos.
- The ··· menu: Post · Chat · Members · New Moment · Merge Moments · Itinerary · Slideshow · Info · Edit (Edit is owner-only).
- Members is where you manage who's in the album (and share it with a whole Group); New Moment adds an empty moment; Merge Moments (owner/moderator, when there are 2+) combines several Moments into one; Slideshow plays the album full-screen.
- The cover is the owner's first photo and stays put as others add more (owner can set a specific cover in Edit).
- Albums sort by latest activity — a new photo or a comment bumps an album to the top.
Inside a Moment
A Moment is one place-and-time group of photos, named after the place (like "Tribeca").
- The ··· menu: Post · Chat · Members · View/Move to Album · Clean Up Duplicates · Slideshow · Info · Edit.
- Move to Album files a loose Moment into an album.
- Visibility (owner, in Edit): "Share with album members" on = everyone in the album sees it; off = only people you add.
- Clean Up Duplicates finds near-identical burst shots and keeps the best (Strict / Balanced / Loose).
- Select mode lets you Delete, Move, Edit Location, or Split into a new Moment on your own photos in bulk — you can't touch other people's.
Groups
A Group is just a set of people — like "Family." Groups don't hold photos of their own; they're a shortcut to share an Album or Moment with everyone in the group at once, and chat together.
- Open a Group to see the Albums and Moments shared with it, plus its members.
- The ··· menu: Chat · Members · New Moment · Edit (owner-only).
- Share an Album or Moment with a whole Group from that Album/Moment's Members screen — everyone in the group gets access, including people who join later.
Members & roles
Albums, Moments, and Groups share one Members screen — where you add people (or a whole Group) and set each person's role.
- Owner (crown) — full control. Contributor — can add photos. Viewer — can look only. Your own row has a star.
- Owners: tap someone to change their role, swipe to remove, or tap + to add friends. The last owner can't be removed.
- Not the creator? You'll see Leave to remove yourself.
People & invites
The People tab is your friends, groups, and invitations.
- Three tabs: Friends · Groups · Invites. Tap a friend or group to open their profile.
- Swipe a friend to remove; accept or decline requests under Invites.
Inviting people — three private ways
- By email — pick contacts or type an email; optionally add them to Albums/Groups in the same step; Send. They join the moment they tap the link, already added to what you chose.
- QR code — create a code (choose what it grants + a role), show it or share the link; they scan and join.
- Personal link — your one reusable link to share anywhere.
Chat & messages
Every Album, Moment, and Group has a chat, plus direct messages with friends.
- Open Chat — it lists conversations with messages; the funnel filters by type. Unread ones stand out.
- Send text, GIFs, links (with a preview), and photos (up to 10, shown as a collage).
- Share a post to chat — long-press a photo → Share to chat → pick a conversation.
- Press and hold your own message → Reply, Edit, or Unsend. Search within a chat or across all chats.
Likes & comments
- Tap the heart to like/unlike — the count updates instantly; tap the count to see who liked it.
- Open Comments to add one; swipe your own comment to delete it; tap a name to open that profile.
Photo details ("Info")
Open a photo → ··· → Info → when it was Posted and Taken, its Location, its Moment and Album, camera details, and file type/size.
Notifications
The bell on Home shows likes, comments, and being added to Albums/Groups (chat lives in Chat).
- Opening the bell clears the red dot, but entries stay; a line dims once you tap it. Entries group under Today / This Week / Earlier.
- Tap a notification to jump to it — "added you to <Album>" opens the album; "accepted your friend request" opens their profile.
Maps & auto-tracking visits
- On Albums, switch to the map → tap a place → a pin → photos from there.
- Turn on Background Visits in Settings (allow "Always" location) and your Visits list fills in, so new albums can organise themselves around places you've been. Add/edit/delete visits by hand any time.
- Said no to location? Photos still work — they just won't carry a place tag.
Album itinerary (plans)
A shared plan for an Album — flights, hotels, meals, activities.
- Inside an Album → ··· → Itinerary → + New plan (date, type, details, confirmation number).
- Flights/hotels default to Just me; places (meals/activities) default to Everyone in the album — switch either. Pull to refresh to see others' changes.
Your profile
- Open your profile (bottom bar) for your posts, albums, moments, and groups; open a friend's for theirs.
- Edit your Full name, Display name, Bio, Phone, and your profile + cover photos. (Email can't be changed.)
Settings
- Theme — Light / Dark / System. Grid layout — Full Photo or Mosaic, with a spacing slider.
- Toggles — Save originals · Group similar photos · Review similar · Upload on Wi-Fi only · Background Visits. Each stays where you set it.
- Account — sign out, switch accounts, add/remove an account. Face ID / passkeys — add one, or recover via an emailed link.
The side menu
The ☰ menu (top-left of Home): your name + email (tap to switch accounts / sign out), Unsorted (photos not yet filed, with a count), Uploads, Settings, How It Works, and Support.
A few good-to-knows
- It's private. Nothing is public. You only see the photos in Albums and Moments you belong to — and you choose who's in yours. (Groups don't hold photos — they're just a handy way to share with the same set of people at once.)
- Nothing gets lost. Posts survive a closed app or weak signal; a photo with no album waits in Unsorted.
- Two phones stay in sync. What you do on one shows up on the other right away, or after a pull-to-refresh.
- Stuck? Side menu → Support opens in-app help.
